CyberOwl, a specialist in cyber security for safeguarding shipping systems from cyber risk, is delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Wagner, its Business Development Director for the APAC Region, as Chairman of the Cybersecurity Subcommittee for the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA).
The Singapore Shipping Association represents over 450 shipping companies in Singapore, with the goal to serve and promote the interests of its members and to enhance the competitiveness of Singapore as an international maritime centre.
The Cybersecurity Subcommittee plays an important role to provide a coherent voice for the shipping industry in Singapore on policy, legislative and technical issues related to cybersecurity, with a particular emphasis on cybersecurity of shipboard systems and the ship/shore interface. In recent years, it has developed a critically important community in which members can share intelligence on best practices, threat trends and development of cybersecurity capabilities in shipping.
Newly appointed Chairman, Richard Wagner, Development Director for APAC at CyberOwl, said, ”We are seeing an awareness and culture change with the fleet operators we are engaging with. The mindset is starting to shift beyond pure policy and compliance towards managing the risks proactively, and our objective is to try and help shipping companies of all sizes achieve that transition as easily as possible. Being part of the subcommittee enables us to focus upon improving cybersecurity competency and resilience and helping operators to benchmark their relative cyber posture compared to other operators in Singapore. Working with SSA helps us support the whole sector “raise the tide” of cybersecurity and cyber safety of shipboard systems.”
